Sleeping Bag Yoga:
Sat Sept 27, 7-8 pm, pop-up class in Balena Park.
Together:
Under the huge sky, smell the earthy breeze and listen to the serenading frogs, crickets, and cicadas. We’ll unravel tension, nourish your soul, strengthen/stretch your muscles, replenish your energy levels, and soothe your nervous system.
This is a place where you can feel deeply cared for. These classes are specifically curated to give tender attention to every corner of your body, mind, and autonomic nervous system. This is the one time slot that’s just for you and your mental well-being. Meet more neighbours and connect with community.

What kind of yoga is it?
This is feel-good yoga. We do “all the things” for your nervous system, and we also strengthen from head to toe, and stretch out all your corners. We flush your achey joints with circulation, increase your lung capacity, and gently strengthen your pelvic core (with up-to-date pelvic floor health in mind, of course). We’ll close the class with a final luxurious savasana. You can definitely opt out of this, but sometimes I circulate during savasana & give a little indulgent head massage with very clean essential oils. Yes, it’s true.
Class Components:
A safe warm-up for your connective tissues.
A sequence of asanas (yoga postures) to strengthen and stretch your whole body—both inside and out. This is the largest component of each class.
A sprinkling of meditation & breathing technique.
Savasana. You lie down on your mat for a few minutes with a blanket (or zip up your sleeping bag!), close your eyes, and completely relax. It’s divine. Sometimes you’ll fall asleep :)
After class, you can chat, catch up, have some supportive laughs & tears, and nourish ourselves.
Logistics:
Balena Park is located right HERE, sandwiched between the Trainyards and the General Hospital. Many of us can walk/bike. For those of you driving, there are several entrances to access Balena Park by parking your car along the perimeter (Balena Ave, or Bathurst Ave, or Devon St) and then stroll into the park.
What to bring:
- Picnic blanket is great underneath you. It keeps you dry from any dew in the grass, and it’s easier to wash than a yoga mat. Honestly, this makes a big difference. You can still bring a yoga mat, if you want, and lay it on top of your picnic blanket.
- A Sleeping Bag can serve as knee cushioning, can be folded up into a seat under your bum, protects you from mosquitoes, and keeps you cozy in savasana.
- I’ll bring the yoga straps/therabands, yoga blocks, and eye pillows, unless you’d prefer to use your own.
